Preliminary Task

This is our preliminary task that I made with my group. From this task I have learnt how to use audacity and how to edit sound files. Also i have learnt how to put different audio files together so that it blends in well. This gave us an idea of the experience in using the different technologies to record and edit.

Q4. Who is my target audience?

Our audience fits into the psychographics of being explorers, so they always enjoy news experiences and learning new things. As our target audience is young, these new experiences such as, socialising with friends, give them new skills that they can take on for further skills in later life. Another psychographic label they have is being an Aspirer - so they want to do well in exams, for example.
The demographics of my target audience will be unemployed as most of them will still be in education, some may only be starting out in jobs so they may not have a high label in demographics. We can then label to be an 'E' - unemployed.

Outside Broadcast Script Re-drafted

ANOTHER TEENAGER MURDERED ON LONDON ROADS

Teenage boy was last night stabbed to death on Bethnal Green Road, in east London.

15 year-old, A Joel Adesina, was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Saleha Siddiqah is at the scene.  Saleha what can you tell us about this tragic incident?

Reports are that Joel was on his way home with friends at the time of the attack. It is not clear where he was coming from that late. Police are at this moment interrogating the friends to find out more.

They describe his murder as cold and brutal. He was knifed in the stomach – the blade penetrated his abdomen.

Friends called an ambulance immediately and Joel managed to survive for about three hours.

He died in hospital.

To date, there have been almost 200 teenager murders in London in the last 10 years.
Just before you joined me I spoke with Police Constable, Roger Laing, about the Met’s efforts to reduce this figure.

Group preparation - Generating ideas

Here, as a group we brainstormed ideas for our newscast.

We had discussed about what we would like to include in our newscast.

We have brainstormed different types of stories we would like to include and follow up on, such as hard stories to do with crime and health, so that our audience can be informed on the important news that may have taken place in their local area.

We also decided to include soft stories such as to do with Celebrities, events and advice on education this is because our target audience are youthful and they will be interested in these types of news.

We have also discussed what kind of forms we will be using to present our news stories such as vox pops, interviews and outside broadcast.

Equipment Research

Equipment needed

Dates required

Dictaphone
- This will provide a better quality than a mobile phone recorder. Also recordings are easily accessible through USB.

Microphone
      - Using a microphone allows speech to be collected better as it blocks out outside noises for examples cars passing by etc.
